The Gap Art Club
A RELAXED ART GROUP FOR CREATIVE PEOPLE
About The Gap Art Club
We are a friendly art club, based in Goring-on-Thames where we meet fortnightly on Wednesday afternoons. You can work on a group subject matter, or on your own art or project, in a pleasant and social environment, where we encourage each other and share techniques. Just bring your own subject matter and materials. We warmly welcome any level of art enthusiast to our sessions.

details of links to projects and artists
As we're not meeting face to face at the moment, we've detailed links to some projects that you might like to try. Have fun experimenting and send us images of your results.
During Spring, we're catching up fortnightly via Zoom, to chat through our latest art projects and inspiration. Do get in touch if you'd like to be included.
Making Watercolour Cards
doodles over watercolours
A lovely loosening and freeing exercise, using watercolours. Add design detail by doodling with pens to create unique cards. We all loved this.
Once you've mastered these, try doodling in watercolour loose blocks using complementary colours from the colour wheel.

Collage Paper Making
preparing Your own unique papers
Jane has created these 2 videos (amazing work), to illustrate techniques in creating your own collage papers.
You can use them to then create abstract collages. Look at these links to inspire you to create your own artworks. Jane Davies is a great artist to review for more ideas on creating collage papers.
Attached is an interesting article written by Mike Bernard describing his methodology of creating collage papers.
Creating collage paintings
USING COLLAGE PAPERS IN PAINTINGS
Jane has created a short video to show how to construct a painting using your home made collage papers.
The colours used were the same as those for making papers, which keeps a harmonious colour scheme and creating a consistent composition. Relax and enjoy yourself, and being created in Acrylic paints allows for tweaks along the way !
Membership and session fees
We are a 'not-for-profit' club, entirely managed and run by volunteers. All fees charged cover our running costs including venue hire, insurance and tutors. We encourage all members to get involved with the committee and organisation of sessions and events.
